I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in The House

Streaming Services: Netflix
Year: 2016
Cast: Paula Prentiss, Ruth Wilson, Lucy Boynton
Rating: 68% (Metacritic)

In this film, the horror does not come from the suspense of the unknown, or from waiting to find out the next big twist. It comes from knowing exactly what will happen next and watching with mounting dread as it comes closer to appearing on your screen.

From the first lines, the film establishes itself as a visual novel about borrowed time. As that time ticks down, it becomes harder and harder to look away.

The Taking of Deborah Logan

Jill Larson stars in this gruesome tale of demons, dementia, and the curses that follow us to the grave. It’s a thoroughly modern addition to the sub-genre of demonic possession, which proves that the concept is far from being exhausted.

It’s also a must-watch for horror fans who prefer suspense over gore, and it’s a master of the classic jump scare.

The Blair Witch Project

It’s a classic for a reason. This predecessor to all future shaky-camera, found-footage, documentary-style horror is uniquely haunting and obscurely creepy, and it shakes you to the core—without ever showing you the face of the beast that stalks Burkittsville, Maryland.

Besides, these are campers in the woods which is among the perfect place to get murdered in a movie.
